ABM University College, Gaborone branch has donated sport kits to Botshabelo Primary School.

The college gave kits and balls worth about P11,000 for boys and girls soccer and netball.Speaking at the handover ceremony, ABM spokesman, Kefilwe Mokokomani said they are running a college that does not have money but they must still finance their corporate social responsibilities. She said this is the first time the college has donated sports kits.

She told pupils to use sports wisely because in the long run, they will enjoy the benefits."If you get involved in sports, you will develop healthy minds and bodies. That will also assist you to concentrate in your studies. Physical education is not fashion but it is something that you should do. Sports benefit you as individuals not the school," said Mokokomani. She added that ABM is willing to create a concrete relationship with the school. She told the pupils to study hard to realise their dreams.

The school head-teacher, Margaret Mthunzi explained the institution is short of many things that can make pupils to excel in their studies. She said the school's traditional dance group survives by borrowing attire from other schools during competitions and this affects the morale of the dancers. "We did not even have enough paper to make enough copies of examinations at the end of the term. We had to struggle to find papers to enable all pupils to sit for end of term tests. We are now preparing for prize giving day but we do not have money to buy prizes for pupils.

Most of the parents in this location are unemployed and that makes it difficult to make contributions for their children. Even the school bell is damaged and we are using a metal bar as a bell," said Mthunzi. She added that her school is always winning soccer competitions in the region but they face difficulties when they go for the national finals where they come against players who use boots. She called upon companies to assist in securing the players soccer boots.
